Museomix MX
An interactive event allowing the public to temporarily assume control of the Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City, enabling them to offer their unique perspectives on the museum’s collection.
Museomix is a 3-day international creative marathon held in museums around the world every year during a weekend in November. It is open to designers, communicologists, engineers, cultural mediators, makers, architects, and in general to all those people who love museums. Museomix MX was carried out between the museum, and the local community. Siete|media was the producer of this interesting way of seeing and attending museums in Mexico for the first time.
Our job was to form mixed multidisciplinary teams, match those teams with an art piece from the Museum, and create a concept that allowed people to understand the art piece from the point of view of an art enthusiast and not from an art curator’s perspective.
In three days, each team conceived and produced a prototype that remained on display in the museum for one week. Museomix encouraged meetings between museum professionals and non-professionals, celebrating multidisciplinary, and the creative discovery of new methodologies and ways of collaboration.
The organization process lasted approximately 11 months. A huge collaboration effort between the museum’s team, our allies (companies and independent professionals who contributed their time and knowledge), the sponsors who contributed with different logistical components, and finally all the people who collaborated with the production staff throughout the process. It is truly the people who make museums.
The Jet Lag Diary
In order to highlight our new partnership between Mexico and Montreal, we designed an exceptional project: THE JETLAG DIARY – an intercultural narrative experiment. The idea was to discover new creative horizons and trigger international collaborations in the technical-cultural field.
This experiment was done through two teams of reporters who swapped cities for a week (Mexicans in Montreal / Québécois in Mexico).
Both teams captured their cultural experiences abroad on a daily basis through a blog.
Teams were selected through a call for people capable of illustrating and/or reporting on this intercultural experiment (illustrators, video artists, photographers, graphic designers, bloggers, reporters, journalists, and/or storytellers, etc.)
This project was possible thanks to the collaboration of Museomix international, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Quebec, and the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation.
Museomix MX
To share the complete experience and inspire more people to be part of this community, we made an extensive video documentation where you can watch the different moments of the production process of the cultural marathon dedicated to museums and the people who love them.
